A conversation on learning, curiosity, science, innovation, and the future.
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, PIERCE – The American College of Greece had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Nicholas G. Paraskevopoulos, distinguished scientist, engineer, and former Chief Technology Officer of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, for an inspiring and thought-provoking encounter with our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB1 and IB2) students.
Under the intriguing question “What Matters More Than Knowing the Answer?”, what began as a presentation quickly evolved into a lively and meaningful conversation. Students actively engaged with Dr. Paraskevopoulos, raising questions, exchanging ideas, and exploring the attitudes and skills that shape success in education, science, and life.
Drawing on his remarkable professional journey, from academic research and engineering to leading major technological initiatives and organizations involving thousands of scientists and engineers, Dr. Paraskevopoulos shared valuable insights that extended far beyond scientific knowledge and technical expertise.
At the heart of the discussion were curiosity, integrity, humility, perseverance, and self-awareness. Dr. Paraskevopoulos emphasized that genuine confidence does not come from having all the answers, but from recognizing what we know, acknowledging what we do not know, and remaining willing to learn. He also highlighted the importance of overcoming setbacks, accepting help, building meaningful relationships, and approaching challenges with determination and an open mind.
