Each year, anniversary reunions are organized for the classes of Pierce. The graduates of the classes have the opportunity to reconnect with both their old classmates and the school, as well as to celebrate this event together through various activities.

1st Pierce Homecoming Reunion

In September 2019, we inaugurated a new tradition for celebrating the anniversary of the graduating classes of Pierce, the Pierce Homecoming Reunion.
The event celebrated all classes with a graduation year ending in “9”, starting from 1949, '59, '69, '79, '89, '99, '09. For the first time, the new graduates of the 2019 class participated, who were also co-organizers of the event.

We reminisced about the old days and created new memories!

The 1st Pierce Homecoming Reunion took place on September 28, 2019, with great success! The graduates of the classes '49, '59, '69, '79, '89, '99, '09, and '19 returned to their school and met with classmates and teachers. This event was different from any other reunion; it was a full, festive day with something for everyone: Masterclasses from Pierce and Deree alumni, class activities, presentations from Pierce clubs, a party, and more.

The first part of Homecoming was dedicated to the classes of '49, '59, and '69. The graduates were impressed by the changes in their school. Clearly moved, they reunited with old classmates and reminisced about their carefree school years. Pierce students and faculty, members of the Sunny Days magazine team, presented an exhibition titled “A Retrospective” and conducted interviews with graduates throughout the day. Later, the graduates gathered in the Theater, where they were welcomed by the President of The American College of Greece, Dr. David G. Horner, the Principal of Pierce, Eric Trujillo, and Maria Laina, Director of the Office of Advancement and Alumni. Faculty members Chara Tzavela and Rena Psaltidou shared their memories of the school. The graduates Mina Katsareli (Pierce '47 and Pierce Upper '49), Baidsar Mardikian-Gazerian (Pierce '48 and Pierce Upper '59), Margarita Triantafyllopoulou-Barzoka (Pierce '59), and Louka Katseli (Pierce '69) spoke about what the school meant to them. The Pierce traditional dance group added a pleasant note to the event, followed by a "special" tour by the Pierce Ambassadors around the school grounds, including the new IB wing, and concluded with a meal in the Pierce cafeteria. It was an unforgettable day!

The second part of Homecoming welcomed the classes of '79, '89, '99, '09, and '19. Dr. David G. Horner, Eric Trujillo, Maria Laina, and faculty members Georgia Marketos and Panagiotis Vassilopoulos welcomed the graduates in the Pierce theater. The Pierce choir and orchestra performed "Hey Jude", and Pierce student Evelina Ademissari gave an excellent piano recital. The alumni had the opportunity to attend different Masterclasses on the theme of "Well-being", as well as presentations from Pierce student clubs.

The highlight of the Reunion was the cocktail party in the Theater Atrium. Alumni enjoyed themselves not only with their old classmates and teachers but also had the chance to meet graduates from other years.

On behalf of The American College of Greece, we would like to thank all the alumni committees of the classes that supported the organization, and especially the class of '89 for their invaluable help and enthusiasm throughout the preparation.
