Deree PreCollege Admissions Criteria

1. Good Academic Standing

  • Greek 16/20 or equivalent of foreign school
  • IB 24/42

2. English Language Competency

Students and families are advised to take into consideration both the student’s interest in the selected subject, as well as their level of English. For students to succeed in our programs, it’s important that they feel comfortable using English in everyday learning. This includes being able to follow lessons, take part in group discussions, keep up with reading and writing, and connect with classmates.

Strong English skills help ensure a positive and rewarding experience for every student.

How to demonstrate this:

Duolingo English Test (DET) results in the range of 120-125 (IELTS 6.5-7) or above.

Please note:

Students who have been instructed in English for all their classes in high school (or middle school) are not required to submit scores.

Students who have obtained the Cambridge Proficiency / Michigan / in the past 2 years are able to waive the DET requirement.

3. Readiness

Students will go through an interview with Admissions Counselors, who will assess the applicant’s academic readiness, maturity, communication skills, and potential to succeed in the program. Students who do well in Deree Precollege are academically curious, independent, they demonstrate interest in self-directed inquiry, approachability and adaptability, that will serve them well in the academic, extracurricular, and social demands of the program.
