Handling an Incident

In the event of a bullying incident, take the following steps immediately:

If you are a bystander:

  • Offer support and comfort to the person being bullied.
  • Do not participate in or encourage the bullying.
  • Report the incident to a teacher, psychologist, parent, or trusted adult.
  • Encourage those around you to take action against the bullying and stand up for the person being targeted.

If you are the person being bullied:

  • Move to a safe place.
  • Speak to a teacher, psychologist, parent, or trusted adult about the situation.
  • Stay calm and do not retaliate with bad behavior.

If you are the person engaging in bullying:

  • Reflect on the consequences of your actions on others.
  • Apologize to the person you hurt and try to make amends.
  • Inform your parents and seek help from a psychologist to learn healthy ways to manage your emotions.
