The Nursing Service is available to the entire community of The American College of Greece, including students, staff, and visitors. At the Pierce Kindergarten and Elementary School, there are two medical offices (First Aid Stations) available to the entire School Community, operating daily from 08:00 to 17:00. Additionally, two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are placed in central locations on campus.
The School’s medical offices are staffed by three experienced nurses who are present throughout the school day and during afternoon activities. The pediatrician, who is the scientific director of the Service, visits the campus once a week to provide advice and expertise on managing emergencies.
The role of the nurses includes providing First Aid in cases of emergencies and illnesses, monitoring students who face chronic health issues, collaborating with and referring to other health professionals within and outside the school community, as well as implementing Health Education and Promotion programs for students, teachers, and administrative staff, with the aim of promoting and safeguarding Public Health. The Health Services are tailored to the individual needs and age group of each person. Every day, the medical offices accommodate a large number of students and handle cases of varying severity, with parents being informed when deemed necessary. Additionally, the nurses provide First Aid to the staff of The American College of Greece, as well as to any other person on campus experiencing an urgent health issue. The goal of the above is to assist community members in cultivating healthy habits that will accompany them throughout their educational experience and later in life.
