Pierce Receives MSA Certification for the Responsible Use of AI in the School Environment!

2 July 2026

Pierce – The American College of Greece proudly announces that it has been awarded the Certificate for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the School Environment by the Middle States Association – Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).
This unique and pioneering certification in the Greek educational landscape recognizes that our School integrates and applies generative AI in a comprehensive, responsible, and ethical manner:

  • in student learning, by strengthening students’ skills and enhancing the new learning experiences they gain, without replacing the learning process itself;
  • in faculty development and support, by enriching teaching practice with training, tools, and classroom scenarios that assist educators in their work;
  • in the protection of personal data, through strict safeguards, transparency, protection from harmful content, and the prevention of algorithmic bias; and
  • in administrative policies, particularly with regard to equitable access to education and the adoption of protocols aimed at eliminating biased or unethical uses of AI.

Pierce is the first school in Greece to follow the national curriculum while also holding American accreditation across all of its educational levels. In its initial decision in November 2022, MSA approved the School’s educational design, academic and extracurricular programs, strategic development, and Secondary Education Action Plan. In December 2023, the accreditation was extended to include the Primary Education level, thereby encompassing the entire Pierce community — Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and the IB Program. In December 2025, the School successfully completed its mid-cycle review, the accreditation was reaffirmed, and it will be reviewed again in January 2030.

Pierce’s accreditation for its educational program is a significant affirmation of the educational quality, services, and pioneering spirit of The American College of Greece. The School is part of a large global educational community of 2,700 accredited schools in more than 110 countries, sharing best practices that promote student progress and faculty development.

The certification for the responsible and ethical use of AI is not simply a milestone; it is a clear statement that the School is actively shaping the future of learning, fostering innovation, modernizing teaching methods, reaffirming the College’s commitment to 21st-century education, and positioning Pierce as a leader in the digital transformation of education.
