
We are very happy and proud to announce that the accreditation of Pierce – The American College of Greece by the MSA (Middle States Association – Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, MSA-CESS) has been extended to the Primary Education level, now including entire Pierce Community (Kindergarten, Elementary, Gymnasium, Lyceum and IB), making Pierce the 1st School in Greece to follow the national curriculum while, at the same time, possessing American Accreditation, in all its educational levels, as, in November 2022, Secondary Education level (High School, High School and IB) accreditation was announced.
Pierce’s accreditation is an excellent confirmation of the educational quality, services and pioneering of the American College of Greece, as the School participates in a large educational community of 2,700 certified schools, in over 110 countries of the world, that share best practices for student progress and academic development for teachers.

MSA Accreditation is a procedure, which normally requires 2 to 6 years. For Pierce secondary education level, it started in 2020, with the submission of the application, and was completed in the time period of 1 year and 4 months (!), accentuating the outstanding human resources of the College and the excellent collaboration among the Administration, Teachers, Parents and Students, making Pierce the 1st school in Greece to follow the national curriculum while at the same time possessing American Accreditation!
The decision for the positive recommendation for accreditation was made following the three-day virtual visit of the MSA Assessment Team (February 15-17), which approved the Educational Planning of the school, the curricular and extra-curricular programs, the development strategy, and the Action Plan for the next 7 years.
MSA assessed:
- the achievement of the Mission of Pierce
- the role of the Leading Team
- the organization and the efficacy
- the Support and Counseling Services
- the facilities
- the ways of protecting the health of the members of the community
- the computer systems
- the pedagogical and academic work
- the opportunities that are offered to students for the cultivation of non-academic skills
- the support for the continuous professional development of the teachers
- the opportunities for the distinction of the students through their participation in international programs
With the Accreditation, Teachers and Students will:
- broaden their educational horizons
- gain access to international activities, conventions and programs
- enhance their relationships and contacts with networks of schools abroad, from which they will adopt best practices
More specifically, the teachers will have even more opportunities for professional advancement and continuous professional development, with the ultimate goal the best adaptation of educational programs and activities of our School to the international reality, the confrontation of challenges and the assurance for the successful future of our College.
MSA (Middle States Association – Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, MSA-CESS) is one of the top organizations in the world. For more than 135 years, it has been accrediting, advising and guiding 2,700 educational institutions in USA and more than 112 countries worldwide. In the near future, Pierce is on its way to being included in two additional international educational organizations, NESA (Near East and Southeast Asia Council of Overseas Schools) and NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
