Second‑Grade Students Take Their First Steps in Research at the Library
As part of the Library Workshops, our second‑grade students embarked on their first research project about animals.
First, they participated in sessions where they learned how to search for books using the library’s online catalog and then locate them on the shelves. They created a bibliography guide that included both books and electronic sources about animals.
Next, they developed a concept map (mind‑map) outlining their questions about animal life to initiate their research.
Working in teams, each group selected one animal, researched and collected information from their identified sources, recorded answers to their questions on a worksheet and then crafted their own paragraph. To present their project, the students used Artificial Intelligence to create videos featuring animals "speaking" in the children’s voices and sharing information about their lives.
Through this project, our students practiced information‑searching and data‑extraction skills to answer their questions and generate knowledge, which they then presented to everyone.
