Gratitude in One Shot

Lyceum
22 December 2025

The Gratitude in One Shot program was designed as a creative and participatory initiative by the English Department, inviting students to capture, through a single photograph, what they value most in their lives: the people, moments, places, or values that are a source of meaning and gratitude.

The photographs were attached to ribbons tied to helium balloons, creating a “floating” collective installation in the Pierce Library. This installation functions as a visual symbol of community: each photograph retains its uniqueness, yet together they form a unified whole, just like the members of our school family.

The presentation of the project offers visitors to the Library a special experience — a reminder that the festive season of Christmas is intrinsically linked to gratitude, reciprocity, and human connection.

At the same time, the program is directly connected to the spirit of Thanksgiving, as it invites students to reflect on the blessings they have in their lives and to honor them through an act of creative expression.

Finally, Gratitude in One Shot serves and highlights the fundamental values of our school:

Aspiration: Students are encouraged to reflect on what they wish to preserve, cultivate, or achieve, recognizing the roots of their own inspiration and motivation.

Community: The collective installation acts as a visible representation of unity and interaction, presenting the school as a space where experiences and values are shared and co-shaped.

Gratitude: Through the activity itself, students express what is important to them and transform their gratitude into a shared artistic experience that becomes a gift to the wider school community.

In this way, Gratitude in One Shot is not merely an artistic activity, but a meaningful educational act that strengthens connection, self-awareness, aesthetic development, and the collective identity of our students.
