Ioannou, Dimitris

Dimitris Ioannou (dimitrisioannou.net) was born in 1976 in Athens where he lives and works. He studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1994-99) and did his postgraduate studies in Fine Arts (MFA with distinction) at Pratt Institute, New York (2000-02) with a scholarship by the Onassis Foundation. In 2005 he took part in a residency programme at USF Verftet, Bergen, Norway.

He has had five solo exhibitions and numerous notable group exhibitions. The latest ones include: ‘Laying Dormant’, basement storage space, 6dogs, Athens, 2016 (solo show), ‘The VELVET Invention’, Romantso, Athens, 2015, ‘CMYK series: The Collection, 1999-2013’, Ileana Tounta Gallery, Athens, 2013 (solo show), ‘Contemporary Treasures (Part II)’, Ileana Tounta Gallery, Athens, 2013, ‘CHROMA III’, Volt Gallery, Bergen Kjøtt, Bergen, Norway, 2012.

Art Projects and presentations of his work have been published in various publications. He has been teaching Art at secondary education since 2009, IB DP Visual Arts since 2011 and he is a P/T professor at the Visual Arts undergraduate program of Deree since 2015.

Salliari, Maria

Since 2007, Salliari has worked at Pierce – The American College of Greece as a theater coach of the Greek Drama Club, the Pierce Summer Camp drama club, and the Forensics Club (oral interpretation of literature in English). She has attended theater workshops for professional actors and directors (theater direction with Nikita Milivojevic; dramatic storytelling techniques with Konstantinos Arvanitakis; Creative Collaboration: Art and Social Inclusion by the British Council) and has earned a scholarship from the Athens Festival to participate in Joseph Houben’s Devised Theatre Workshop. She is a professional theater and TV actress, and has also been employed as voice-over actress in English and Greek.

In 2008, she founded SYNTELESTES, her own theater company, devised and performed in TZIZ! Neoplasmatic Hysteria (2008) and GARNISH (2009). She also coaches the company theater workshop and has directed Gnorimies (2011), Thailanders (2012), Animals (2013), Sempreviva (2014) and Play On (2015). Since 2008, she has been employed to develop and lead various workshops for teachers, including: «Movement, Creative Dance and Physical Theatre» at Kinitiras Studio (2015), «Drama as a Tool for Foreign Language Teaching» (2015), and «Activities with Drama» (2011, 2013) organized by the Directorate of Secondary Education (MINEDU), «When Cervantes Entered the Classroom» (2012) at the 7th Athens International Conference: «Bonds of Solidarity» organized by the Greek TIE Network, and others.

Tsatalis, Yannos

Theater Acting Modules and Final Performance

Bachelor’s degree in Modern and in Ancient Greek Literature, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Yannos Tsatalis has been a member of the Pierce faculty since 1991, teaching Modern Greek and Ancient Greek. He created the Greek Drama Club, the Art Days Club, and the Arts Days Festival at Pierce, and now Tsatalis is the Head of the Ancient Greek Language Department. During his studies, he learned Theater (Ancient Greek Drama and Modern Theater). He has also participated in several theater conferences, and is currently a graduate student at Deree – The American College of Greece, in the Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Public Relations.

Gyra, Violetta

Theater Acting Lectures

Violetta Gyra is a graduate of the Greek National Theater, and a lifetime member of the Actors Studio Theatre Company, New York. She is credited in film, television and theater productions in Europe and the Americas.  Her credits as a production manager include: EVROS WALK WATER II by Rimini Protokoll, Onassis Foundation Stegi, 2017; Dreaming Collectives by Rimini Protokoll, Staatsschauspielhaus, Dresden 2017; Faust by Katerina Evangellatos, HIGHWAY PRODUCTIONS, 2016; and 1984 by Katerina Evangellatos, LYKOS PRODUCTIONS, 2016. She’s also created an original, site-specific play entitled ROADTRIP (1, 2, 3) which took place within moving cars. The play ran during the years 2011, 2012, and 2015 in Greece.

Her theater credits include: Timeline project by V. Adamou, Spike heels in Circle in the Square, NY; Waxing West, Death of a Salesman, Gorky’s wife by E. Penga, kinitiras studio; Superheroes by E. Penga, dir. Patrick Morris, kinitiras studio; ELECTRA The Rewrite by Edward Pomerantz, Athens Fringe Festival (Electra)’ EXTRAordinary one woman show; Why Madonna and not me? by Μ. Κokoris, dir. Kalatzopoulos, DI.PE.THE.Veroias; Viva la Compagnia, Tejas Verdes, and many more. She has also appeared on TV and film, both in LA and Athens.  She had guest-starring roles on prime-time television dramas Ihni (MEGA) and Istories tou Astinomou Beka (ALPHA) in Greece. Lastly, Gyra also has an ongoing collaboration teaching different acting workshops with kinitiras studio in Greece, and at The American College of Greece, the Pierce Leadership Academy, and Millfield School, Wells, UK.

Stamatellos, Giannis

Ethical Dilemmas and Games

MA in Ancient Philosophy and Classics, University of Wales Trinity Saint David; PhD in Philosophy, University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

Dr. Stamatellos is the Coordinator of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Pierce, and an instructor of Philosophy at Deree – The American College of Greece. He has been teaching Ethics and Business Ethics at the Department of History, Philosophy, and the Ancient World, and also teaches the courses «Digital Citizenship: Netizens and Cyber Selves», and «Mediated Lives: Avatars, Cyborgs and Digital Selves,» in the context of the International Honors Program. In 2010-2012, held a post-doctoral fellowship position at the Center for Neoplatonic Virtue Ethics (CNVE), at the University of Copenhagen, and in 2011-2014, he was an external research associate at the project «Power Structuralism in Ancient Ontologies,» at the University of Oxford. He has worked as a philosophy teacher and instructor in the private sector, both at the pre-academic and academic levels, with specialization on computer ethics, epistemology, and ancient philosophy. He has published the book Computer Ethics: A Global Perspective (Jones and Bartlett 2007) and two more books on ancient philosophy, Plotinus and the Presocratics(SUNY 2007), and Introduction to Presocratics: A Thematic Approach to Early Greek Philosophy.  He has also published a variety of papers and articles on philosophy and classics. Currently, he is co-editing the volume Plotinus and the Moving Image: Neoplatonism and Film Theory (to be published by Brill in 2017).

Background and Expertise

Artemios Miropoulos worked a total of eight years in the Sales and Marketing departments of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Goods and as National Sales Manager with Beiersdorfin Greece. Since 2008 he is the Managing Partner of Linkage in Greece, the world’s fastest growing Leadership and Organizational Development corporation and has been a member of the Faculty of the “Global Institute of Leadership Development” (G.I.L.D.) in the U.S.

In 2015 he published his first book “The Nameless King-15 Stories of Leadership from Ancient Greece” and has been invited in many occasions as a keynote speaker and a workshop facilitator on the topic of Leading on Values through storytelling.

Artemios joined Response International, a premium Greek HR Consulting company,as a partner in 2000. He led the Learning & Development team and managed the company’s SE Europe expansion. Within a 6-year period he established HR Development offices in Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria together with the operations of Stanton Chase Executive Search. He is a Linkage accredited professional coach and has worked with senior and middle management teams of numerous organizations on Leadership Development Academies, Culture, Talent, Executive Assessment and Coaching Programs. His clientele include Accenture, Bayer, Friesland, Generali, Johnson & Johnson, ISS Facility Management, Intralot, Intrasoft, Kosmocar, MarfinBank, Mercedes Benz, Motorola, Pfizer, Piraeus Bank, Roche, Sap Hellas, Siemens, TUI, Volkswagen Audi and others.

He has initiated the foundation of the Hellenic Association for Customer Service and is the President of The American Chamber Leadership Committee.

Artemios holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, Athens, a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, London and a MSc in HR and Performance Management from the University of Leicester. He lives in Athens with his wife Julie and their three daughters.
