Pierce C Lyceum student, Klea Tryfoni, achieved 1st place in the “Code like a girl” competition, which was organized by Vodafone and was addressed to girls 14-18 years of age from all around Greece. The competition took place August 31 – September 4, 2020 and is the largest code-writing course for girls in the world, aiming to bridge the widening gender gap in STEM professions.
Last year, Klea had also won 1st place in the Female Digital Skills and Entrepreneurship competition, which was organized by Junior Achievement Greece, with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). That competition was addressed to girls 15 – 18 years of age from all around Greece and took place June 21 – 26, 2019. Its goal was to inspire girls to pursue professions related to technology, innovation and business by acquiring the skills needed to put their ideas into practice and to develop an entrepreneurial spirit.
