Students of Pierce – The American College of Greece will have the opportunity to take part, once again this year, summer of 2021, in two summer programs in the USA, with scholarships:
- the program at Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA) and
- the Edge Summer Program at the University of Delaware.
Students who select the program at Phillips Exeter Academy will receive full scholarships, thanks to the contribution of the sponsor, Mr. Spyros Bouas. The students who are selected for the Edge Summer Program will receive scholarships from Pierce – The American College of Greece. At this time, both educational institutions are planning to hold their programs with students physically present. Scholarships cover the students’ physical presence and not online participation, if this option is available.
The two programs differ in their academic requirements and daily study experience. The Phillips Exeter program lasts five weeks and participants will attend classes, take part in athletic activities and be involved in a thinking process, utilizing the pioneering teaching method, Harkness, which is based on the Socratic Method. The Edge program is a 4-week university program which prepares Lyceum students for their future university studies.
Both programs are designed for A and B Lyceum and IB1 students who meet the admissions requirements of the program they wish to apply to. Because the programs are different, interested students may apply to only one of the two programs. Applications for both programs will not be accepted.
Students interested in participating in one of the programs will have to meet the stated deadlines and to fulfill the respective requirements. Failure to meet deadlines will lead to the candidate’s exclusion from the process. At the end of the process, all candidates will be notified as to their performance in the interview and receive suggestions for improvement. We believe that just the selection process for the two programs offers participants multiple benefits and cultivates valuable skills in both personal development as well as academic progress.
