On Monday October 3rd 2022, the English and Physical Education Departments successfully organized Race for the Cure, aiming at raising awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The race took place on our school’s race track on the same day as International Sports Day, with the participation of all Gymnasium, Lyceum and IB classes. The students were informed about the benefits of physical exercise for our health and took part in various sports activities.
Overall, 150 Pierce students and teachers participated in Race for the Cure, representing the Untouchables, the team of the NGO PAMEMMAZI (founded in 2017 by the family of our late graduate Emmanuela Vernikou), aiming at promoting the psychosocial care of those suffering from cancer and the holistic approach to the disease, making Emma’s vision come true.
Thanks to the warm response of the students, this year a total of over 1.600 euros was raised in donations for Alma Zois and the Hellenic Cancer Society.
