Presentation on Artificial Intelligence

On Wednesday, February 17, Pierce A Lyceum students attended an online presentation on the subject, “Computer Science and AI.” The presentation was made by Pierce Computer Science teacher, Mr. Athanasios Drivas, along with invited guest speaker Mr. Vasileios Sitokonstantinou, researcher at the Institute of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications & Telescopy of the National Observatory of Athens.

The students were informed about the contribution of artificial intelligence to the construction of vehicles, the development of medicines, disease prediction and, generally, the improvement of our lives. They learned about the basic principles and algorithms of Artificial Experience, through the data of the BEYOND center of Institute, which it has developed and has been successfully using mechanical learning algorithms and artificial intelligence techniques for food security worldwide.

In addition, they were informed about new professional prospects in the field of informatics (applications of artificial intelligence and data science), which are aimed at the sustainability of the planet and the well-being of people in societies of the future.
