From Pierce classrooms and swimming pool to the University of Chicago with a 95% scholarship!

Filippa Kolokotsa, graduate of Pierce 2018 and athletic scholarship recipient for swimming, has been accepted at the University of Chicago to study Economics on a 95% scholarship. Every year since 2014 she has won a medal at the Panhellenic Swimming Championship (one gold, four silver and two bronze) as well as many other distinctions.

At Commencement 2018, she was named Valedictorian, i.e. she graduated with the highest grade average among her classmates in all her years in the Lyceum. However, Pierce was much more than a springboard for her athletic career. Filippa describes her experience at the school:

I wanted very much to take advantage of the school not just for the scholarships, but for the activities it offers. I took part in the Junior Achievement Club, one of the most active at Pierce, and participated with distinction in Panhellenic and Paneuropean competitions. I also traveled to Madrid to represent Pierce at Harvard Model Congress Europe. I have always been a good student and understand lessons easily in class and therefore I have not attended outside tutoring institutes. The school played a part in this by being there and offering help and support in every way.

Good luck, Filippa! May you always be first in your studies and in athletics!
