Lyceum Student Council Elections (5-Member and 15-Member)

October 10, 2017

On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, elections for the 5-Member Student Councils for all Lyceum classes were held. On Friday, October 6, 2017, elections for the Lyceum 15-Member Student Council were held.

The institution of the Student Community has a long history at Pierce. In October 1924, the experience of the previous 50 years of democratic education at the College was concentrated  in the establishment of the institution of Student Government, the first and, for many years, the only student organization in Greece.  Student Government prepares students for active participation in society, cultivating a spirit of cooperation, enhancing self-discipline and developing the sense of social responsibility. Good behavior, respect for the opinions of others, awareness, contributing to society as a whole and implementing the principles of the College are essential elements of the personality and are cultivated in practice through participation in the Student Community.

Furthermore, student life is not just about the learning process, but is enriched with personal involvement in Community activities, always in the spirit of cooperation and philanthropic contribution. The elections are carried out according to relevant Ministry of Education decisions and with the guidance of Class Advisors and the Student Government Advisor.
