Honorary Distinction in the Student Competition “The Holocaust and the Greek Jews”

Pierce’s A Lyceum student, Daniel Gioulis, received an Honorary Distinction (8th place) in the 9th Student Short Film Creation Competition, on the topic “The Holocaust and the Greek Jews” with his creation “The Survivor of Chalkida”.

The students who participated in the Competition expressed, through their works, their thoughts and feelings about the Holocaust, with particular reference to the fate of the Greek Jews, and became familiar with scientific and historical research on the subject. Daniel studied primary and secondary historical sources and included a testimony from the daughter of one of the last survivors of the concentration camps in his film. Our student was guided by the philologist of Pierce – The American College of Greece, Mr. Konstantinos Ballos.

Daniel, along with all the winners of the competition (“Awards and Honorary Distinctions”) participated in a special educational program of the Jewish Museum of Greece, which included, among other things, an educational visit to the “Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum” in Poland (July 8 – 10, 2023).
