Pierce – The American College of Greece announces the 4th Student Competition in the Ancient Greek Language and Literature. The aim of the competition is to reinforce the study of the Ancient Greek language and to familiarize them with more works in the literature so that they will understand the timelessness of its concepts and values, as well as to realize that the Modern Greek language has its roots in Ancient Greek and is the continuation of that language. In addition, it aims at helping students to comprehend that the intellectual creation of the Ancient Greeks is inextricably linked to modern Greek culture and that it contributed to establishing European and, more generally, Western Civilization.
The competition is for students of B Lyceum, public and private, of the Attica Prefecture, participation is optional and requires parental consent and there is no participation fee. The competition will take two (2) hours.
Students that are interested may declare their participation via email at [email protected] by Monday, November 25, 2019.
