1st Place and “Social Innovation Relay Award” for Pierce’s Endless Energy Tree!

The student business “Endless Energy Tree” of the students of the Pierce Junior Achievement Club won the 1st place and the “Social Innovation Relay Award” at the Athens Student Trade Fair! The award was presented by the Minister of Education & Religious Affairs, Mrs. Niki Kerameos.

The Endless Εnergy Tree is a wooden, artificial tree which has solar panels instead of leaves, and wind turbines instead of branches. Its purpose is to collect and store energy for a variety of uses: lighting, charging devices, watering and playing music!

The Junior Achievement Club with Mr. Panagiotis Sfyri as the Teacher Advisor, and the Academy of Engineering with Mr. Stelios Katsoulis as the Teacher Advisor collaborated on the project. The latter undertook the construction of the end product.

The student business of Pierce earned distinction among 54 virtual businesses of 900 Gymnasium and Lyceum students from Central and Southern Greece, the Aegean islands and Crete, in the framework of the global competition “Best Student Virtual Business – Company Program 2023” of Junior Achievement Greece.

The Student Trade Fair took place on Friday 17 March at The Mall Athens and the students presented their smart products to the JA Greece Judges, having created their own student “start-up”. The event is under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, and takes place every year, with the approval of the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs.
