Utilizing the equipment of our School’s MakerSpace, students in the Robotics Club learn to construct and program a robot. Educational robotics is an activity that, with a view to technological innovation, helps students to discover their talents and skills, to work cooperatively as part of a team and to become familiar with technology, automation and robotics.
The Club’s ultimate goal is to prepare students to take part in the Panhellenic Robotics Competition (http://wrohellas.gr/) which takes place every year with the participation of schools from all around Greece. The winners of the competition by category (Elementary, Gymnasium, Lyceum, Open) represent our country in the Robotics Olympiad (http://www.wroboto.org/). In the context of the club, students are divided into teams of 2 or 3 and every team is required to construct a robot using LEGO Mindstorms NXT materials. Then in the programming environment of LEGO, they program their construction so that it can carry out certain activities – trials. The required equipment is supplied by the College.
